Gentrification

I don't know how many of you deal with gentrification from day to day. My guess would be that it's not something Jeremy and Kelly have to think about too much (I could be wrong), but for those of us in more urban areas it's often a reality of life. So enjoy this little article.

I am all for gentrification and all for aristocratization. It teaches people their proper station in life.

You're also an ass, but that's why we love you.

I love Jonathan for other reasons than anything having to do with being an ass. Anyway, he's in good company. Is Edmund Burke an ass, I wonder?

Well, Tallahassee isn't totally devoid of gentrification. Frenchtown, which has a particularly interesting history, is being eaten up on its northern end by people who like the architecture. It is good architecture, all old houses, arts and crafts style, etc. At any rate, for those looking for more information on gentrification, I encourage you to look here:

We have aristocratization in Annapolis. During the summer they're all over, in period dress with carriages and whatnot.

This is unrelated, but:
yesterday while I should have been writing about Jakob Boehme and Johnna should have been writing about Julian of Norwhich, I started making a list of "mystics I have known." It had Eric McMullen and Brandon Fox and Jon McRay on it. Afterwards Karie came over while JoJo and I were arguing over the proper definition of mystic. I was trying to explain the intensity of glance common to the contemplative life. I said, "Jonathan's kind of a mystic. And sometimes I think my brother is." And Karie said, "I think that whole group are mystics." and Jojo said, "even Kelly?" and Karie laughed and said, "No, not kelly."
So anyway, Kelly, I'm glad you were there all that time to take care of your saintly visionaries.

I would not classify Jeremy, Everett, and Taylor as mystics. They more closely fit the romantic category, in the Wordsworthian sense. Everett and Taylor are romantics in other senses, as well, perhaps. Certainly Taylor, whose activities of the past year are some of the most classically romantic I've ever witnessed. I don't think Jonathan is a mystic at all. He's a rationalist and he's argumentative, like me. Where do we put Steven?
